Methodology

Data and methodology

Journey Spectrum travel-time bands are door-to-door public transport estimates based on official city schedules. They are designed for comparing neighbourhoods and stays — not for guaranteeing every real-world trip.

What the travel time includes

  • Walking to and from stops
  • Waiting time
  • Transfers
  • In-vehicle transit time

Calculations use official city transport data for the selected day and departure time. Results follow the timetable context for that moment.

What the colors mean

Colored bands group locations by journey duration to your chosen destination. Green is the fastest category; warmer colors take longer. Minute thresholds are customized for each city’s size and network.

Colors show how long the trip takes. They are not arrival times on the clock.

Estimate vs guarantee

Bands are planning estimates. Real trips can differ because of disruptions, crowding, temporary works, personal walking speed, or last-minute timetable changes. Always treat bands as comparative guidance.

Stays layer

Accommodation points come from partner listing sources (such as Booking via our providers) for your selected dates. Availability and prices can change; final booking happens on the partner site.
